This Project Management Methodology Handbook is made to be help for the Project Managers within your organization. Seminars and training courses will be held regularly for all personnel that will be using this Project Handbook.
This Handbook is very much a “living and practical” document, and will be refined when the Project Managers propose better practices based on the lessons learned in their Projects. This document should be referenced in electronic format to insure that the last version is being used.
It is important for organizations to have general guidelines for managing projects. An agreed project management methodology will bring a mutual understanding and common procedures to be pursued and put into practice. This Project Management Methodology Handbook is based on PMI (Project Management Institute) standards, and it is made to assist project managers in your organization.
Projects are composed of processes that can be organized into five groups: Initiation, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling and Closing. Among the process groups the links are iterated, Planning provides Execution with a documented project plan early on, and then provides documented updates to the plan as the project progresses.
Although project here is drawn with discrete processes under discrete steps, it is important to note that in an actual project there will be many overlaps.
